There are many people out there complaining about gas milage. If you wanted good milage you should have bought a Prius. You are talking about a 300 horsepower car here not a Honda or a hybrid Toyota with a 4 cyl. Now, as for this 300 horse-powered car the gas milage isn't as bad as 90% of all the other makes with this kind of power. I suppose it's thanks to BMW's twin tubro system, but I got 22.7 miles per gallon and that isn't bad!
About the space inside the cabin...
Yes, in the backseat it's a little snug for an adult. This car wasn't meant for hauling around 4 people at all times. I say at all times because, you can fit them back there, but the long duration wouldn't be good. Again, as in before you are not supposed to compare a two-door small sport coupe to a larger car (if you need space, buy a car that suits that need). A two-door, two seating converitble with little or no trunk space was not for me (Z4). However, you don't hear me knocking the poor Z4 because the room space is limited. It's a beautiful car, handles amazingly, and is exactly what it was meant to be... a small, fun, convertible. My lifestyle, however, requires a slightly larger amount of space.
As for all of the bells and whistles inside- I didn't get the Nav, because I have a Tom-Tom so I don't have an accurate account of what it's like. The IPOD adapter works perfectly, the stitching of the leather is excellent- it has the SAME EXACT materials as it's older brother the 3 series. (Yes, even BMW has confirmed this, all the materials are put together the same way). It's double stitched on each side of the seam and looks fantastic!
As for the driving experience...
Tremendous! This car is a whole lot of fun to drive (and will easily get you in trouble)! I have the automatic or steptronic if you will, it's smooth and effortless. No sluggish behavior at all, again ZF does it well (same as the 335i - which is also confirmed they share the same auto tranny). The acceleration is just WOW! The overall sound of the car is like a low growl, fierce and ready for action.
Styling..
I've read many journalistic takes.. In the end this subject is all about the eye of the beholder. There are plenty and I do mean plenty of cars out there, that I believe to be hideous. Though, I see them everday so someone obviously thought otherwise. That's the beauty of choice! Now would I go up to that same person and to their face tell them their car is 'strange looking' never!
I'm pleased with styling. From the front it's pure BMW, and the rear is nice clean and crisp. I like the way the body line of the car flows from the front all the way to the rear. It's not choppy, and there aren't any major raw angles.
Overall I am extremely pleased with the car! I have a simple life, no children, just work and this car makes the drive to my job a great one!
